Bedford Hills resident Marcus Vamosy turned himself in to Bedford Police on Friday, Feb. 23 in connection with a crash that occurred in Bedford on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, according to Bedford Police Lt. Jeff Gulick.
On the day of the crash at around 5 p.m., Vamosy had been speeding northbound on Bedford Road (Route 117) near Advance Auto Parts at 794 North Bedford Rd. before striking a van and a utility pole. His vehicle then came to rest in the Advance Auto Parts parking lot, Gulick said.
The collision caused his brother, also aged 24, to be ejected from the vehicle and suffer substantial head injuries. Since the crash, he has made a "significant" recovery, Gulick added.
Following a lengthy investigation into the crash involving accident reconstruction efforts and testing, Vamosy was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, according to Gulick. He was later arraigned in court and will next appear in court on Wednesday, March 13.
